PRIME 2010

Sun, 04/09/2011 - 19:02 — admin

The results of the Problems of Recognition In Making Erasmus study were presented for the first time at ESN Summer Reception in Brussels on 13th July.

The research revealed that 73% of Erasmus students receive full recognition of their courses completed abroad. 24% received only partial recognition and 3% did not get any of their courses recognised.

Moreover, 22% of the students, regardless receiving recognition or not, needed to repeat some courses or undergo additional examination upon return to home institution.

Even though the situation of exchange students is slowly improving, the study shows recognition is still a problem for many. PRIME 2010 identified six remaining obstacles to recognition:

  • incompatibility of study programmes,
  • problems with credit calculation,
  • problems with grade transfer,
  • bureaucratic issues,
  • attitude of certain professors,
  • insufficient information provision.

The findings will be described thoroughly in the final report, to be released in September 2011.
